Sharing the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games learning legacy

  • Learning the lessons of the London 2012 construction and programme management

Jason Millett, Director at Mace and CLM Delivery Partner Programme Director, will address the Association of Project Managers’ (APM) Learning Legacy launch event on the 23 January 2012.

The APM has been chosen by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) as a Learning Legacy dissemination partner, and will share the lessons learned from the construction of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games around the theme of programme organisation and project management through a series of events in 2012.

Jason’s key theme for the event will showcase the integrated working relationships formed throughout the programme between the ODA, CLM and park contractors. Other speakers include ODA Chairman Dennis Hone, Balfour Beatty Project Director Stuart Fraser and Reader in Innovation Management at Imperial College Business School, Dr Andrew Davies.

Jason stated “It has been extremely important, for all parties involved in the programme, to operate with integrity and transparency to deliver the works within the schedule set. This was successfully achieved, and there is a great deal that can be drawn from the information and detail that the ODA have recorded within their learning legacy archive.”

The ODA launched learning legacy to capture the lessons learned, best practice and innovations from the London 2012 construction programme aimed at raising the bar in industry and as a showcase for UK Plc. This is the first time intellectual capital of this scale has been captured by any previous Olympic Games or UK construction project and was made possible by the collaboration and contribution across the programme of contractors, industry partners, government bodies and academia.
