Three Quays wins gold on the City of London Considerate Constructor Scheme

The Three Quays project has been awarded the City of London Considerate Constructor Scheme Gold Award.

Members of the Mace project team collected the award at a ceremony on 4 November on behalf of the Three Quays project, from the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor, Alderman Michael Bear.

The decision to award the top accolade to Three Quays was based on the overall performance of all personnel working on the project for the past year. The Gold Award recognises the requirements of the Code of Good Practice have been consistently exceeded. It reflects the spirit of pride and awareness of the needs of the passing public, and regard for the surrounding environment.

The Lord Mayor said: "The award was given in recognition of the Mace team's commitment to the Considerate Contractor Scheme and the Code of Construction Practice at Three Quays. The cooperation and consideration given to the neighbours of the Three Quays project was exceptional."

Mace has been working as main contractor on the £70m Three Quays residential development on the bank of the River Thames, next to the Tower of London, since 2010. The project involves a new ten-storey, limestone-clad block comprising 159 one, two and three-bed luxury apartments. In addition to an external water sculpture to be created by artist William Pye, the wider development will incorporate a number of retail and restaurant outlets, and is in close proximity to the existing Sugar Quay walkway, which is also being enhanced.

The Mace team is delighted to see the prestigious development getting the recognition it deserves. Operations director, Steve Burrowes said: "This is a fantastic team effort to receive this award at such an early stage of the project. It's going to take continued hard work to better this achievement as we progress the construction of this high quality residential building in such a sensitive area of the City."
