Autodromo Internacional do Algarve F1 Park

Consulmace Lda, Mace Group's Portuguese operation, has recently completed the first phase of a massive new Algarve Formula 1 track and associated buildings. Consulmace was commissioned by client Parkalgar to provide project management, quality control and health and safety supervision on the Algarve MotorPark project.

Conceived to attract Formula One back to Portugal and host key world and European motorsport events, the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve scheme will comprise a 5km Formula One racetrack with capacity for 140,000 spectators and 10,000 VIP guests along with a 1.5km karting track. The development will also incorporate a 70,000 square metre technology park, a four star hotel, 160 tourist apartments and a sports academy with wet leisure, indoor and outdoor playing facilities.

The new motor park is located in Portimao on the Algarve and was formally launched as a project by the promoters and the Portuguese government in February 2008. The track is scheduled for completion in October 2008 and the first race will take place in November. Phased completion will see the hotel handed over in December 2008 and the apartments in January 2009.
