The Venetian, Macau | Mace
When the Las Vegas Sands Corporation looked to take its brand into the Special Administrative Region of Macau, China, the gambling mecca of the Far East, its aim was to create a destination that would become a world-class, multi-operator environment to compete with Las Vegas. The Venetian was conceived as a fully integrated resort and casino that would attract visitors in large numbers, and entice them to stay for longer periods of time. In order to deliver this immense development, the world's second largest building on completion in 2007, the client appointed joint venture partners Mace and Hsin Chong, a well-established local construction company.
In keeping with the client's ambition to create an integrated resort experience for visitors, The Venetian combines hotel, gambling, retail, exhibition, conference, sports and theatrical facilities. Successful delivery on such a vast scale required a comprehensive logistics management strategy and intensive planning to ensure all elements were completed on programme. In addition to Mace's experience of working in remote or under-developed locations, and with managing large multi-national workforces, the client's project team, which incorporated the Mace and Hsin Chong joint venture, provided invaluable knowledge of the local supply chain.
